How to order: Step-by-step instructions (U.S. only)
Ordering an Oncotype DX and receiving the results is a straightforward process. Simply follow these 4 steps.
STEP 1 - Get specimen kits
Exact Sciences provides a specimen transportation kit box for each patient's tissue sample.
To request specimen transportation kit boxes, contact Customer Service at
866-ONCOTYPE (662-6897)
Kit orders are usually processed within a day and received within 48 hours.
STEP 2 - Complete requisition form
Please fill out each section of the requisition form completely. It's most efficient to complete your requisition form online.
STEP 3 - Submit a sample
Exact Sciences can work directly with the pathology team (or the treating physician) to obtain a sample.
When submitting a DCIS sample for the Oncotype DX Breast DCIS Score test, please choose the block with the greatest amount (cross-sectional area) of the highest grade DCIS and the least amount of non-DCIS mammary epithelium (hyperplastic mammary epithelium, normal epithelium). While the Exact Sciences laboratory can accept tumor blocks and unstained slides, blocks are preferred.
Total mastectomy specimens are not appropriate samples for the Breast DCIS Score test. In rare cases the diagnostic needle core biopsy may have more DCIS (cross-sectional area) than the excisional sample; if this is the case, then the needle core biopsy should be submitted.
All specimens
must be labeled with S barcode labels from the Oncotype DX specimen collection and transportation kit box for that patient.
Download the Pathology Guidelines PDF for more information.
STEP 4 - Access results
Most Breast DCIS Score reports are available within two weeks from the date we receive your sample at our laboratory.
